Supporting Africans

For Unity and Development - Supporting Grassroots Africa Support Themselves

Services

OVERVIEW

The NILE is a unique organisation with regard to the services we provide and to whom we provide them. Our services are designed to be flexible, in order for us to be able to develop them to meet the ever-changing needs of the Black communities and Africans wherever they are. Although we provide emotional and practical support to Africans daispora communities, we never remain generic.

The NILE is dedicated to improving the well-being and quality of life for African immigrants, International Students and refugees in the North of England. We help provide the tools for men, women, youth, elders and families to succeed in the UK and at "home" Africa. At the same time, we encourage our clients to respect, honour, and preserve their diverse cultural heritages.

To get closer to many of our clients, we have opened our office on Barry Street in Bradford City Centre BD1. We intend to increase our volunteer staff and add more offices in other parts of UK and Africa, and expand our services by:

Refurbishing offices and Africa House.

For our homebound and elderly community members in Jinja (Uganda) and Migori (Kenya), we will add transportation services as we are committed to Supporting The Elderly African People (STEAP) .

We hope to further reduce language barriers by expanding the list of interpreters and languages offered in our interpreter services program. We also plan to offer English Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) classes at Africa House. We also plan to offer Swahili and Luganda classes at our site.
